VBA Database Locking Up (Access 2007)
Question:

Hello,

I am having a problem with my database going into a total lock down after I close a form (frmQueue).

It's sort of like the program is freezing, but it is not freezing, It is just locking up. Before frmQueue opens, an append query runs.

I originally thought that the query was causing the problem, but I do not think so anymore. The query runs with no errors and return the records that it should.

Has anyone every encountered this problem? I do not know what else to do at this point. I have recreated my entire project twice now in different ways to try and solve this problem, but everytime i close this form the whole database shuts down.

In a previous thread I posted, I was encountering basically the same problem, But I have no responses yet. If anyone knows what to do, or has advice, please let me know. Thank you!

Answer1:

I am still trying new ways to get around this, and I am going to go back to my original thought that the append query I causing the database to lock up.

The reason why I do not know what is happening is because I am not getting any errors anywhere. The query, as i said before, it works the way I want it to, minus the fact that i believe it to be the reason why the database locks up.

I am very confused...

Answer2:

Hi Erica,

you have posted this in a forum for Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). If the form/query in question is generated by VBA, could you please post the code to help us determine the cause of the problem.

If it is a regular Access form/query, then you will probably get better help from the Access Newsgroups (I don't think there's an Access forum). Try one of these (probably access.forms):

Access

If a post solves your problem, please mark it as an answer.
Answer3:

Thank you for the help Dragon.

The only VB code I have in this situation is a docmd line that opens the query. I do not think this is my problem.

One of my teachers says that I could be refrencing a field wrong, so I am going to try breaking it down to see if one of the fields I am trying to append is causing the problem.

Thanks again!
